When he was little, Alessandro Barbero wanted a dirtbike to ride, but his father got him a BMX instead and the rest is history. Barbero has been riding since 1999 and progressed quickly. He broke onto the competitive BMX scene as a Dew Tour rookie in 2008.
With a penchant for riding whenever and wherever he gets the chance, Barbero still splits his time during competition season between his native Italy and the U.S., where he’s known for wearing Italian-flag boxers in each Dew Tour final that he makes.
Part of the glory of being Italian and having sponsors is that Barbero gets a free car to cruise around in from Fiat as part of his sponsorship deal, and he can swap it out for a new one each season.
