Considered the Cinderella story of 2006, Anthony Napolitan landed at the bottom of the dirt standings the season before. Not to be deterred, Napolitan used his dismal results from 2005 as inspiration, moving to Woodward Camp to develop his skills and range of tricks.
The difference was immediately evident, when Napolitan won the dirt contest at the first stop of the ’06 Dew Tour season and earned his first invite to the X Games. Taking the bronze medal at the X Games, Napolitan kept the momentum going over the remaining Dew Tour stops, eventually claiming the Dew Cup in BMX dirt.
Always an innovator, Napolitan also landed two new front flip variations on the ’07 Dew Tour – a suicide no-hander front flip and a tire grab to barspin front flip.
Invited to his second consecutive X Games in ’07, Napolitan finished third in the Big Air competition. And although he didn’t make the podium at the 2009 X Games, Napolitan did make history once again when he landed the first ever double front flip during the Big Air competition.
