After graduating from Colorado’s Cherry Creek High School a semester early in 2008, Bobby Brown immediately moved into the ranks of professional skiing. The feat is even more impressive considering the teenager only started skiing at age 11.
Known for his ability to throw double flips, Brown is both a slopestyle and a big air specialist, making an immediate impact after hitting the professional circuit. In his first major competition, Brown won the first ever stop of the 2008-09 Winter Dew Tour and went on to win the New Zealand Open the same season.
Originally an alternate for the 2009 X Games, Brown got the call to compete and answered it in a big way by finishing sixth in the slopestyle competition. The following year, Brown claimed double gold in slopestyle and big air – besting the likes of Tanner Hall and Simon Dumont by becoming the only freeskier in X Games history to win two events in the same year. Brown’s big air victory was memorable for more than one reason; not only did he earn a pair of perfect scores, but he landed the first ever switch double misty 1440.
