Continuously gaining momentum as an amateur rider, Christian Craig was brought onto the Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda Factory Team in 2009.
What seemed to be Craig's best year yet, quickly turned disastrous. In November of 2009, Craig was in the last day of testing the 2009 factory bike when he endured a horrific crash. After being rushed to the hospital, Christian underwent an 11-hour surgery to repair his back which had been badly broken.
Following the surgery, Craig underwent intense rehabilitation. Determined to get back to his old self as soon as possible, he worked incredibly hard to regain his motor skills.
After what seemed like the longest 11 months of his life, Craig was cleared to get back on his bike and return to the track. After officially returning to the Troy Lee Designs team, he began preparing himself for the 2011 season.
Craig's ability to come back from such a devastating injury is amazing in and of itself, but his ferocity and complete lack of hesitation in attacking each race of the 2011 season was inspiring. Finishing 15th overall in season points in the 450 Class Championship.
