If you had to name Danny Mayer’s number one claim to fame, it would have to be the kickflip McTwist. And although Tony Hawk beat him to the punch in terms of inventing the thing, Danny managed something even the Birdman couldn’t. He wired it.

Danny grew up skating vert with Steve Berra of all people in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1992 he backside 360 meloned his way into the limelight with a part in H-Street’s Next Generation video. Cutting edge since day one, Danny pioneered tricks like the 360 varial to backside revert and body varial fakie fives. Still crazy.

At the older end of the spectrum, Danny stays ahead of the up and comers with die-hard discipline, laser focus, and an unparalleled willingness to slam his brains out in order to learn new moves. His tech gnar mix has made him a best trick event champ. Examples include a win at Slam City in ’03, the X Games bronze in ’04, and a second-place finish at the Dew Tour’s China Invitational in ’08. Three tricks, three podiums.

But the guy can put a run together too. On the Dew Tour since the beginning, Danny uses his experience to his advantage and grabbed third place and his first-ever podium spot at the Playstation Pro in ’09.

Away from the ramp Danny can usually be found hanging out with his wife, rolling dice with his friends or updating a pretty ridiculous collection of vintage records.
