Dennis McCoy lives, breathes, and rides for the sport with a passion that’s obvious every time he gets on his bike. Ever since his mom rolled him down a hill on a bike at the age of four, McCoy has been on a bike. Racing BMX at 13, McCoy switched over to freestyle the following year.
One of the pioneers of BMX and a true competitor to this day, McCoy has participated in street, vert, flatland, and dirt contests and is the only rider to ever hold a year-end title in all four of these riding disciplines.
The owner of seven X Games medals (one gold, four silver, and two bronze) and counting, McCoy’s athleticism has helped him become a consistent competitor for more than 20 years. One of only a handful of athletes who can boast an appearance at every X Games since the contest debuted, McCoy is known to many as the “Grandfather of BMX.” He holds the longest winning streak in freestyle, claiming a BMX year-end title every season from 1986-1995 – a decade of domination.
In addition to his long list of riding credits, he is the head of McCoy Productions, which he runs with his wife, Paridy. The couple help organize BMX contests and events, including the Dew Tour.
