To put it simply, Jay Eggleston is a BMX vert specialist who feels most at home when he’s blasting big airs on a vert ramp. One of the few remaining riders from the original Lip Lords Freestyle Team out of Colorado, Eggleston is known for his smooth style of riding as well as for the size of his airs.
Eggleston’s best year came in 2004, when he took second place in the Soul Bowl’s High Air contest, then followed that with the High Air title at the BMX Worlds. Also at Worlds, he claimed second place in the vert competition. Later that same year, Eggleston just missed the podium at the Gravity Games, riding away with fourth place.
With more X Games appearances than you can count on both hands, Eggleston had his best finish in 2007 with a seventh-place showing. A consistent top-10 competitor, Eggleston also ended the 2005 year ranked third in the Mobile Skatepark Series and followed it up with a seventh-place ranking in the Dew Cup standings in 2006 and 2007.
