Josh Hult made his Dew Tour debut in 2007 but missed the majority of the season due to injury. After staying near the middle of the standings for most of the 2008 circuit, Hult broke free from the pack at the start of the following season.
After advancing through the open qualifying rounds of competition, Hult claimed the first major win of his career, the event title at the Nike 6.0 BMX Open. The win propelled Hult to sixth place in the 2009 overall standings, his best finish to date. Breaking into the top 10 regularly during 2009 contests, Hult also claimed 10th at Extreme Things, eighth at Big in Bavaria and third in the BMX Triple Airs competition.
