Originally from Massachusetts, Tooker graduated from high school in 2004 and moved to Greenville, N.C. to pursue his passion for BMX while attending East Carolina University to major in small business and entrepreneurship.
Splitting his time between school and BMX for the four years of college, Tooker excelled at both and finished the 2006 Dew Tour in ninth place overall. Then, with BMX his full-time focus after graduating from ECU, Tooker put his name in the record books at the 2008 Right Guard Open, performing the first-ever barspin flair on a park course. Aided by a third-place showing at the Nike 6.0 BMX Open – the second podium finish of his Dew Tour career – Tooker recorded his best finish to date, ending the 2009 season in eighth place overall.
