Martin Davalos moved to America following a successful racing career in his home country of Ecuador in South America. The friendly import quickly found success in the AMA with the Star Racing Yamaha team in 2006.
His next move was to the factory KTM squad for three years where he struggled with some bad luck and injuries that derailed his efforts despite flashes of race-winning speed. Though capable of finishing on the podium, Davalos has yet to finish inside the top-five overall in a championship. The 2009 season was particularly difficult and he left switched from the Austrian bike manufacturer to his familiar Yamaha.
Again, 2010 has been a roller coaster season. Ninth in the Eastern Supercross Lites, despite missing the second round in Atlanta, proves that he still has the speed to run up front in the 250 class. In his 2010 MX season Davalos had several notable finishes, including his results at High Point, where he came in ninth, and Washougal, where he took 10th. He completed the '10 outdoor season in 9th, which was his best season yet.
In 2011 Davalos rode a Suzuki RMZ250 aboard the Rockstar Energy Suzuki team, and was joined by teammates Ian Trettel, Ryan Morais and Jason Anderson. Martin finished 9th overall in both the Lucas Oil Motocross Championship 250 Class and Supercross Lites Western Regional Championship. He finished 8th in the SX Lites West region the follow year, but missed six Nationals due to injury later in the year.
A veteran of the Lites division, Davalos joined up with the Pro Circuit/Monster Energy/Kawasaki squad for 2013, pairing him with one of the circuit's top teams.
