He was riding his motorcycle before he was even out of diapers, and by his father’s accounts, was more of a mini-factory rider than merely another amateur motocross racer. Alessi was truly born to be a professional motocross racer, and now he finds himself ranked among the fastest on the planet.
After one of the most impressive amateur careers in motocross history, Alessi was ready to join the professional circuit to prove that everyone should ‘believe the hype’ as his family t-shirts proclaimed. Flashes of brilliance through the first four year’s of Alessi’s career certainly delivered on those promises. He was always a contender for a podium finish and a national Championship.
Several near misses plagued Alessi throughout his career. He has been on the cusp of winning championships on multiple occasions, but an injury here and a fall there have cost him over the years.
In 2012, Alessi turned in his best season yet after joining forces with the MotoConcepts team. In a campaign highlighted by consistency, Alessi put himself upfront all year with numerous holeshots and often found himself in battles for the lead with Ryan Dungey throughout the year. With numerous podium finishes to his credit, Alessi finished the year 2nd overall in 450 points behind Dungey.
