Renton Millar
Renton Millar is one big rolling incongruity. On the one hand he’s an Australian maniac that keeps every session hyped, blasts big 540s, and is a tireless seeker of good times. On the other, he’s a married family man who wears prescription glasses, shreds the lip, and loves to get deep about the nature of skateboarding and sometimes even life itself.
To this day Renton calls Melbourne, Australia home, where during the summer months he skates the local Prahran vert ramp with his friends, er, um mates. Then every year without fail, when the leaves begin to fall and the temperatures dip, Renton changes hemispheres like the rest of us change socks, heading north to Europe or the States where another summer awaits.
Renton’s forte on the vert ramp entails much flipping of the board with very little in the way of reaching down to grab it, as evidenced by his kickflipping into and shove-iting out of the very same nose grind. Understandably he’s pretty good in the best trick format. With hit and miss results on the conventional comp circuit however, Renton didn’t skate his first full Dew Tour season until 2008, where he surprised everyone, probably himself most of all, with an eighth place year-end tour ranking. He also came up big that same year with a win at the Copenhagen Pro in Denmark, and with the wind at his back it’s been smooth sailing ever since. But, staying with the theme of his incongruity, there’s always a pretty good chance he’ll end up going overboard. So stay tuned.

Pedro Barros Tops the Vans Bowl-A-Rama at Bondi
Pedro Barros continued his domination down under winning the Bondi Bowl A Rama a week after wining the Wellington Bowl A Rama in New Zealand. Following the young Brazilian was Dew Cup Vert Champion Bucky Lasek and fellow Brazilian Bob Burnquist.
