Sam Hulbert went to Waterville Valley Academy and claimed the victory at the Main Event series held at the resort in 2006. He’s known for his board control and technical style of riding and was rewarded with a sponsorship from Ride Snowboards during the 2009 season.
He went on win the Paul Mitchell Progression Session that same year with a winning run consisting of a backside 180 board slide 270 on the first box, half cab 5050 on 180 off the rail, switchback 9, front seven, back nine and a spin on the barrel feature to take the win.
Hulbert splits his time between Salt Lake City for school, Peterborough, NH for a taste of home and Northstar-at-Tahoe for the powder. His wide range of riding has paid off in a big way. He claimed fifth place overall on the inaugural 2008-09 Winter Dew Tour as well as a handful of top-10 finishes on Burton’s 2009 Global Open series. Hulbert went immediately into filming for Think Thank’s “Cool Story.”
With a deeper appreciation for good conditions than most (growing up in New England will do that to you), Hulbert’s enthusiasm for snowboarding is evident each time he competes.
