Skiing since the age of four, Carlson was hooked after he saw the “Second Generation” video by Level One. At age 12, a confidant Carlson approached the acclaimed ski filmmaker Johnny DeCesare following a premiere and announced that he would soon be skiing in his legendary films.
With the advantage of having Windell’s Camp at Mt. Hood pretty much right in his backyard, Carlson’s abilities as a technical new-school skier quickly got him noticed, and in 2006, he landed the opening segment in DeCesare’s Poor Boyz’ “Ski Porn.”
Segments with Matchstick Productions, Rage Films and Poor Boyz have established Carlson as a mainstay in the film world. He is also a top competitor, finishing in the top five in the Winter Dew Tour’s slopestyle rankings in both 2008-09 and '09-10.
With a handful of X Games medals – silver in 2007 and ’09 as well as a bronze in ’10 – and more to come, the skier is equally adept at rails and jumps, proving just that with podium finishes at Freestyle.CH, Freestyle.Berlin and King of Style in 2010.
