The first BMX dirt competition EVER on the Gatorade Free Flow Tour is in the books. On a weekend that saw record-setting attendance at the Ecke YMCA skate competitions, Perris, CA’s very own Da Compound made history of its own by hosting the first-ever BMX dirt contest in the Tour’s six-year history.
In addition to a dirt comp, there was also a BMX park contest. When it was all said and done, Compound regular Daniel Sandoval used local’s advantage to claim the park win by throwing a 720 whip, front flip, down whip, flair and a super whip into the mix.
Following the park event, the competition moved outside to the dirt jumps, where Larry Edgar (who actually won the park competition last year at Da Compound) landed atop the podium with a 3 tuck, double whip, orbital 360, and 360 whip in his winning run. With a handful of BMX dirt contests over the course of the season and so many talented riders, we’re taking the top three from each stop, so joining Edgar at the Finals are Sandoval (double threat!) and third-place finisher Kevin Peraza.
