First time I did a madonna to tail around the corner it was a mellow session with a few local kids and I tried it and it worked out a couple tries later. It's one of my favorites to do in the Combi.

The Mega is one of my favorite things to skate. The first time I skated the Mega was at Bob's house and man the first time is really sketchy. Doing Christ airs on the quarterpipe are really fun to do.

The more you do the Mega the more comfortable you get with it. I was sketchy at first, but the more you do it the easier it becomes. The last session I had was really fun and that's when this photo was taken.

This is a frontside varial, one of my favorite tricks because they feel really good when I do them. This one is at the Bowl-a-Rama contest in Bondi, Australia….Best contest ever! Always looking forward to a trip to Bondi.

It came down to the last runs of the Superfinal to decide it all in the skate vert battle at the Dew Tour Championships. Defending Dew Cup champ Pierre-Luc Gagnon walked away with the win and his third Dew Cup after putting together lines full of combos and difficulty no one could match.

Check out PLG's second run of the Superfinal

“I’ve been on a roll for the past four contests,” Gagnon said. “After I won Dew Tour in Salt Lake City I went to Europe and South Africa and I won both those events. So I was like, ‘Let’s just keep it rolling, keep it going.’”

It also came down to who could actually stay on their board and put together their run. After landing a frontside bluntslide during finals, Bucky was trying a nollie kickflip stalefish 360, and if he’d pulled it off the outcome could have been much different.

“It was like a battle all year and there wasn’t any major lead from anyone,” Gagnon said. “Especially since Bucky was right behind me by eight points. I skated with him all last week and I saw the run he was trying, and if he would have pulled that, it would have been close.”

Shaun White pulled it together in his third run of the superfinal with a run that included fakie-to-fakie 540s, a 720, a body varial frontside rodeo and ended with his signature armadillo. He finished second with 91.50 to PLG’s 92.00. Lasek finished third with 88.50.

PLG's win also made it a Canadian sweep on the skate side of things at the Dew Tour, with fellow Canuck's Ryan Decenzo winning street and Jordan Hoffart taking first in Best Trick.

The same was true for switch master Paul Rodriguez.

Skateboard Street Final Highlights

Ryan Decenzo came into the Dew Tour Championships ranked first overall and a win in Vegas guaranteed him a Dew Cup. The same was true for switch master Paul Rodriguez.

Then the skate street finals delivered a surprise ending when the top six skaters advanced to the final jam. Missing from that jam was P-Rod, who came to the event ranked second overall. He started off the finals with solid switch moves and tech tricks on the rails, but wasn’t able to advance to the jam.

But there were two Gatorade Free Flow Tour winners who made it into the mix. Seventeen-year-old Brendon Villanueva earned his way through the GFFT ranks with an overall win this season, and he was granted a spot to compete against the pros on the Dew Tour. With a kickflip to flat down the steps right at the buzzer of his intro run, he was skating solid right from the start.

“What I was told by a bunch of pros is that ams are more hungry that pros because they want to make it to that point as well,” Brendon said.

He’s following in the footsteps of last year’s Gatorade Free Flow Tour winner Alec Majerus, who also advanced to the final jam. With a frontside feeble on the rail, frontside noseblunt slide and smooth style, it earned him his first Dew Tour podium with a score of 85.13 and a second-place-finish. The 16-year-old from Minnesota has made it into every final this season.

Also in Dew Cup contention here in Vegas was Greg Lutzka, who advanced to the final jam along with Ryan, Ryan’s brother Scott and Brazilian Danilo do Rosario.

Lutzka was skating well with a 270 to switch front blunt and a frontside flip to flat, and he finished third with 84.25 on the course built inside The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

That left the door open for Ryan, who showed cool calm from his intro run straight through to the final jam. His nollie backside heelflip down the stairs was just one in a list of solid tricks that earned him the win and the Dew Cup. He finished with a score of 90.28.

“The first time I ever competed on the Dew Tour it was obviously a dream and a goal to make it to this point, and I did, so I’m super proud of myself,” Ryan said.

<![CDATA[Ryan Decenzo Destroys Skate Street Course for Win and Overall Lead]]> http://allisports.com/alli/news/skate-street-finals-story In what the riders were calling out as one of the best courses the Dew Tour has ever built, the guys were throwing trick after trick as proof.

]]>

In what the riders were calling out as one of the best courses the Dew Tour has ever built, the guys were throwing trick after trick as proof.

In his first big pro contest, Kechaud Johnson landed a switch backside 5050 down the ledge, a kicklfip backside ollie over the A frame and looked solid out there. The tricks kept flowing during his solo run and jam session and he advanced as the top rider in the 6-man final jam.

Once the final jam was underway, it was Decenzo who got his rhythm going with a nollie heel down the gap, and solid tech tricks while making full use of the course. His intro run, earlier jam and final jam score of 87.18 gave him the win and it also earned him the overall lead for the Dew Cup. When the competition ended, he credited the course with helping him take the win.

“The way they put the whole big section together was good, the hubbas were the right height and the rails were the right height, steepness and length,” Decenzo said. “It was great for progressing and landing tricks consistently.”

Greg Lutzka had a rough time at last month’s Portland Invitational after breaking a board without a spare during the finals, but he redeemed himself at this event. He made Dew Tour history after landing a trick never done in the 6-years of skate competitions, and it was a first for him as well.

“I was super pumped to skate and I got the 270 blunt to 270 out and I’ve never done that,” Lutzka said. “So that was huge right there just for me to progress. That’s what I’m about. I’m about skateboard progression and doing stuff that other people have never done.”

Paul Rodriguez finished in third after a switch frontside flip down the stairs, a switch 360 flip and solid switch and tech tricks throughout the final jamp. That keeps him in the running for the Dew Cup.

“I started off really rough so I’m happy that I was able to fight my way up and get onto the podium and still keep myself in the race for the Dew Cup,” Rodriguez said. “I definitely have some work to do but I’m still in a position where it’s possible.”

]]>

Bucky Lasek, Shaun White and Pierre-Luc Gagnon were the last three riders to go in the skate vert superfinals - ranked third to first - but it came down to the last runs to decide the podium order. Bucky skated awesome in the 10-man finals. But after advancing to the 5-man superfinals his board got away from him a few times and he wasn't able to put together the runs he had planned and he finished third with 87.75.

"I just fell short on one last trick before I was going to bring my last tricks," Lasek said. "My last three tricks were going to be all new and more technical. I was going to do a frontside nollie flip stalefish 360, but I fell two walls before I was going to get a chance to do it."

Check out PLG's second run of the Superfinals, his highest score

The score to beat was Gagnon's 94.00, and White was looking for the win with massive airs, lip tricks, and he even pulled out the armadillo. But when he dropped in for the final run with the pressure on, his board got away from him partway through and the win went to Gagnon. White took home second place with 89.75.

"It means so much to me right now because I was getting pretty frustrated after being so close twice this year," Gagnon said. "At the X Games and at the first stop of the Dew Tour, in both events I was right there, and I ended up losing at the last minute."

But he came through today at the Toyota Challenge with what he hails as, "The best run I've ever done in my life."

That run went like this: Dropped in to alley oop kickflip mute, kickflip melon, kickflip body varial 5, body varial 540 with board on the right side, air to fakie, 720, McTwist, kickflip mute to fakie, switch heelflip frontside air 360 right into a nollie heelflip indy 360.

"I’ve never done the switch heelfip frontside air before in a contest run and that’s what I’ve been looking for all year," Gagnon said.

Sandro Dias also advanced to the superfinals after some amazing earlier runs, but he struggled to keep his board under his feet at times and finished fourth. Fellow Brazilian Pedro Barros was tied for first with Gagnon earlier in the finals with back-to-back 540 variations like his indy 5 into stalefish 5, but after advancing to the superfinals he was boosting his massive airs but wasn't able to pull his runs together and he finished fifth.

Check out Shaun's first run of the Superfinals, his highest score

Now it all comes down to next month's Dew Tour Championships in Las Vegas where the Dew Cup is on the line. Gagnon is now leading the charge with 190 points, with Lasek second with 182 and White in third with 172.

"I feel great because I'm in first place and I was really happy with my skating here," Gagnon said. "That's going to give me more time to even better that run. To score a 94.00, that's putting a lot of pressure on Shaun."

Terry Kennedy has a lot going on with a new part coming out from Baker, recording a debut album and his involvement with the music and lifestyle brand Fly Society. Check out this interview to get up to speed.

How’s everything going Terry, whats new with you?
Man, stayin busy. Got the ‘Low Life Tour’ coming up, then handlin’ some business with the brand right when I get back. Grindin.

I know you’re psyched for the ‘Low Life Tour’...
Yea man! It’s gonna be dope cuz everybody’s goin. Deathwish x Shake Junt x Baker; the whole crew will be out there so its gonna be a lot of fun. I’m excited man.

People are getting antsy for the Baker video, how’s your part coming?
Coming real soon! I’m almost done with my part, but definitely gonna get some more footage while I’m out on the tour coming up.

Update us on the brand, what can we look forward to from Fly Society?
Man, we about to kill it with the Holiday line. I was rockin my ‘First Class’ Snapback the whole time I was in Europe on the Supra Tour. And we finally got some crew neck sweatshirts comin! So things are goin good, real good; we’re growin and very grateful to be in Alli, so shout out to everyone over there.

Which old trend would you like to see come back? We’re all waiting for parachute pants to make that comeback.
More air bubbles on the shoe. When those Air Barkley ’94’s came out... Pshhh, they were just the best!

How is everything going with the music side of Fly Society?
Real good man, gettin in the studio as much as possible. We got a video dropping this week for ‘Surreal’ exclusively on the website, flysocietyonline.com; and shooting another video for a new single, ‘Megan Good’ both with the homies at BLKDMNDS.

What was your first CD purchase?
Pete Rock & CL Smooth, ‘They Reminisce Over You’... Whatever album that was. That was my shit.

You’re currently recording your debut album, “International Passport.” Any guests artists or producers?
We’re still picking out the tracklist now. Right now we have a solid 5-6 tracks. Once we figure that out we’ll know.

Growing up in Long Beach, how influential were Snoop, Nate Dogg, and Warren G to your music?
I mean that’s history, that’s where I came from. I’ve been around them since I was a youngin; they used to call me lil skateboard. Shit, I was about 15 when I met Snoop, Nate and all them...so 100% to me.

You’ve been on Baker now for 11 years!! What’s changed with the company since it’s beginning in 2000?
It ain’t changed too much, they just put on new people. It’s a lot of up-and-comers now when I was a young kid, they were even younger; and now they’re startin to grow up and progress; like Theotis, Herman all those dudes. And its dope to see them grow to a point where they’re pro now as well.

If you had to give an up-and-coming young skater one piece of advice, what would it be?
Just continue to skate, put all your energy in skating, focus on that and let everything else just happen. Mainly just skate, and have fun.
