2010 WWA National Title Finals

It was a day full of making National Champions in Reno, Nevada. The Junior Pro Men, Pro Women, Pro Wakeskate and Pro Men finals all went down this afternoon to see who would take the National title home with them.

In the Junior Pro Men division, it was Steel Lafferty who came through on his second pass and really put it together. After a fall on his second trick. Steel landed a heelside 720, a massive dum dum into the flats, and a backside 720 off the double-up.

Steel Lafferty takes this backside 720 around during the finals for the Junior Pro Men. He went on to take the win at the WWA National Championships

The wind picked up in the afternoon for the Pro Wakeskaters and their final round. In the less than ideal conditions Reed Hansen and Grant Roberts landed an array of tricks making it a close battle for the 1st and 2nd spots. It wound up with Reed Hansen on top of the podium after he landed a backside 360, and switch and regular frontside 360’s.  Pro Women also had to battle in the unsavory conditions, but wound up with Nicola Butler winning the event after doing a roll to blind, moby dick, and a mute scarecrow.

The top 20 Pro Men were put into 5 Semi Final heats with only the top rider advancing to the Finals. Bryan Hutton again put it together with a stand up run to make it to his second final of the year. Phil Soven, Danny Harf, Rusty Malinoski and Harley Clifford all won their heats as well making it into the Final Round.

Phil Soven crail grabs during this toeside roll to blind. Phil and Harley battled it out as the last two riders in the finals, but the Aussie just edged Soven out for the top spot.

In the finals for the Pro Men division Nautique team rider Danny Harf rode super consistent in his two passes landing a wrapped backside 720, moby dick 540, and a toeside backside 540. But it was a battle between Harley Clifford and Phil Soven for the top spot on the podium. Harley edged Phil out with a back mobe 540, switch and regular toe 900’s, and  backside 720 off the double up.

After sustaining an injury in the Semis, Nicola Butler toughed it out and came out swinging in the finals. It paid off with her top spot on the podium.
