On Sunday February 26th Big Bear Mountain played host to the Second Annual Nikita Chikita Snowdown. Unlike the inaugural event a year ago at Northstar this follow up was all about the ams. Sixty of female snowboardings most promising up and coming shreds came to the Snowdown to throwdown. While most events of this type are relegated to a handful of fabricated jib features that reward luck as much as skill, this years venue featured three jumps of varying size with the biggest of which being a fifty foot tabletop. 352-001 - 640-553 - 642-062 In turn this highly legit launch would prove to be what separated the women from the girls. Of course it wouldn’t be a socal snowboard contest without the jibs and Bear Mountain provided enough rails and boxes to leave the most devout linoleum twirlers dizzy. Then there was the famous American Flag rail which is an over head flatbar that has seen coverage in a plethora of snowboard magazines and films.
