Jessica Patterson announced Friday night that she broke her hand earlier this week preparing for RedBud. While she's going to line up today at RedBud and try to race, JP$ concedes that she's just looking to get some points.

Patterson's injury comes just as Ashley Fiolek is set to make her return to the series. After missing the last round with a concussion, Ashley dropped down to 5th in the WMX standings, 63 points behind Patterson. But now she's back and looking forward to racing at RedBud. Although Fiolek can't mathematically grab the points lead today, it's possible that Patterson's injury could allow her to sneak back into the chase.
So stoked for RedBud Mx! I feel like I haven't rode in forever and now I get to this weekend at my favorite track ever! :)

Tarah Gieger currently sits 2nd in the points, 33 behind Jessica Patterson, and is another rider who can pick up some ground today.
