Possibly the biggest news of the summer has just been announced; the AST Dew Tours five month summer sport series will expand to include three additional months of winter competition!

The AST, along with title sponsor Mountain Dew, and NBC Sports, will launch the AST Winter Dew Tour with the first of three events in December of 2008 and will continue into January and February 2009, with the two remaining events.

Already the biggest Tour in action sports, the Dew Tour will take it to the mountains for competitions in both freeskiing and snowboarding. Both male and female athletes will be on the roster and potential disciplines include superpipe, slopestyle and cross in both sports.

Similar to the Dew Tours summer competition structure, the Winter Dew Tour will be based on a cumulative points system with a Dew Cup champion crowned in each discipline at the final winter stop.

The energy and excitement is high amid the Dew Tour, as this expansion will make the AST Dew Tour a year-long competition series that involves five sports.
