Following
Bucky Laseks impressive first place finish in Skate Vert at the Toyota Challenge, he is fast on his way in overall points towards his second Dew Cup. Currently packing 313 points moving into the PlayStation® Pro, the big question now is can Lasek possibly do it all again for a second straight year? Can he perform under the intense pressure and pull out all the stops? Although he has faced some stiff competition from the likes of Brazils
Sandro Dias, as long as he skates well in Orlando, the answer is a resounding yes.

With Dias in second with 264 points - 49 points behind Lasek - some would say that it could go either way. But if you do your homework and crunch the numbers, Lasek might already have it barring any unexpected circumstances. Hypothetically speaking, lets say Dias wins in Orlando and earns 100 points and Lasek takes second earning 75 points, as they did in Portland. That will still put Lasek at 388 and Dias at 364, which narrowly crowns Lasek as overall champ. This means that if Lasek wants to take it all for 2006, he must place at least second at the PlayStation® Pro. Judging by his skating during the last few stops and most recently in San Jose, it is certainly possible for him to be able to do it.

With this in mind, the Skate Vert action next month in Orlando is surely something not to be missed and will be a fitting culmination to the tumultuous 2006 Dew Tour Skate Vert season. And with the event a little over a month away, it will also give both Lasek and Dias ample time to hone their skills and prepare for what guarantees to be one of the biggest skate showdowns of the year. So make sure to clear your calendar for October 12-15, book your flight to Orlando, and well meet you at the bottom of the vert ramp at the TD Waterhouse Centre to see it all go down!
