Josh Grant to miss start of Pro Motocross season

May 15, 2018

Monster Energy Kawasaki's Josh Grant will miss the opening rounds of the 2018 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship as he continues to recover from injury. The news was announced in a press release from the team this morning.

Grant, who fractured his leg in February, had been hoping to return for the start of the outdoor season. But the team says that he was re-evaluated this morning, and the doctors determined that he would need additional time for the injury to heal. The team did not specify exactly how much more time they expected Grant to miss, only saying that he will return "as soon as possible."

"It’s unfortunate that I won’t be able to line up at the opening rounds of the outdoors," Grant said in a statement. “I feel good, but I know I’m not at 100% yet."

Grant has missed significant portions of the last three Lucas Oil Pro Motocross seasons due to various injuries.

The 2018 season starts this Saturday at Hangtown, the track where Grant had his best outdoor result last season. He earned 3-3 moto finishes and took third overall in that race.
