Kings of the Hill

As top skaters prepare for the 2007 AST Dew Tour season, two kings stand at the top ready to drop in for more. Ryan Sheckler and Bucky Lasek are each clearing off room on their mantles for their third Dew Cup trophies after dominating for two years running.

Sheckler first staked his claim on the inaugural Dew Tour in 2005 when he was just 15 years old, winning three of the five Park contests and scoring a total of 438 points on the tour. He ruled the Park courses again in 2006 with three more first place finishes and a tour total of 430 points, edging out Jereme Rogers, his friend and closest competitor.

Not one to rest, Sheckler shelved his trophies and immediately began filming in remote spots all over the world for a new Red Bull movie. As if his star needed shining, he also filmed a new reality show for MTV, made the move to Plan B Skateboards, scored a bunch of magazine covers, and got busy hyping his new signature Oakley shades. Now that hes sorted out a tangle of broken bones in his arm, hell be the man to beat again in 2007.

Over on Vert, Laseks lead is just as impressive. He won the Right Guard Open and Vans Invitational events in 2005, taking the tour with 371 points. He was back for more in 2006, placing in the top three at every stop on the tour and winning the Toyota Challenge and PlayStation® Pro events for a tour total of 413 points, beating out Sandro Dias and Bob Burnquist.

Bringing his sharp competitive edge and slick snowboard flavored skills to Vert is Shaun White. White will no doubt be giving the other Vert riders a run for their money.

Lasek turned pro right around the time Sheckler was born, and has the tricks, consistency, and boosts the amplitude to show for it. Hes looking forward to the Dew Tour debut event, the Panasonic Open, in his hometown of Baltimore this year, and hell be looking over his shoulder for Sandro Dias, who plans to chase him down. He also knows to watch out for Burnquist, whos been training on some insane backyard playground equipment.

Anyone ready to take down some kings?
