Last Ticket for Salt Lake City Goes To Blake Lamb

1st Place - Blake Lamb Backflip

Today’s competition at Autumn Ramp Park in Joplin, MO was the last chance for up and coming BMX’ers to get a spot into the finals coming up in Salt Lake City. Those who came out for the competition put it all on the line and in the end it was the best of the best who’ll be going onto the finals to compete with the country’s best.

In the Junior Jam division it was Xavier Cannady who took the win. The judges were impressed with his airing out of the big quaterpipes and smooth and fast flowing lines through the park.

For the older guys it came down to a final five competitors fighting it out for the last spot in the Free Flow Finals; Blake Lamb, John Pattreal, Nick King, Robert Shevelbush, and Corey Morgan. Coming in fifth place was Robert Shevelbush with his smooth 360 over the fly box and turn down over the hip. Nick King took fourth place with his wallride transfer, tail whip air, and a no hander over the pyramid. Third place went to John Pattreal and his run consisting of a turndown air, 180 over the fly box, and 360 seat grab. In a close second place was Corey Morgan with his huge tail whip out of the Gatorade wave, no hander over the fly box, and downside whip on the hip. Taking the first place prize and a trip to the finals in Salt Lake City was Blake Lamb. “Super excited for the finals. I better get ready, they’re really soon!” said Lamb.

Blake’s a regular at Autumn Ramp Park and his consistency and determination were more than enough to impress the judges during today’s comp. His winning run included a picture perfect flair in the bowl, giant transfers, superman seat grab over the fly box, and huge backflip out of the Gatorade wave!

At 16, Blake Lamb has suffered more injuries than a Vietnam veteran.
The Joplin High School student has broken ankles, arms, two ribs and a few fingers.
And, no, he has never played a down on the Joplin gridiron, gone elbow to elbow in an Eagles’ basketball game or banged bodies on the JHS soccer field.
In fact, Lamb’s extracurricular activity that has inflicted such abuse takes place far from the Joplin High School campus. Three to four days a week you can find him at the Bridge. No wonder he took the last ticket for Salt Lake City. Congratulations! I think no amount of instant cash loans can replace the joy you are experiencing.
