Saturday Recap From Reno

Aaron Rathy Heelside Method Grab

A crazy night followed up with an insane day. Crazy night referring to hours at Sparks’ finest casino/hotel, The Nugget (trust us, it’s as classy as it sounds). Insane day referring to pure shredding on the glassy waters.

The Junior Pro Men kicked off the weekend riding this morning at Sparks Marina. All eyes were on the water for the boys as Bob Soven tries to maintain his flawless first place year. Meanwhile, Bob’s top challenger, Aussie rider, Mitch Langfield, is doing all he can to try to put a stop to Bob’s banner year. Keep an eye out tomorrow to see if Bob has what it takes to prevail this year.

Following the young men were the Pro Women. This being their 2nd feature this year at the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour, they all had something to show the crowd at Reno. The girls were set to compete and throw down on the glassy waters and that’s just what they did. Standing out in the Pro Women’s division is Canadian Ashley Luegner. She was able to edge out Raimi Merritt and Raequal Hoffman, moving her forward to the finals tomorrow. We’ll all be waiting to see who the top chick shredding tomorrow will be.

Finally, the moment fans had been waiting for, the Pro Men. Pro Men kept it interesting as usual this afternoon. Of course right off the bat, the competition was on as Danny Harf, Shane Bonifay, Derek Grasman, and Adam Errington took the water. Danny and Shane ended up advancing to tomorrow, edging out the other two Pro Men. One big upset would be Chad Sharpre getting edged out by young gun, Alex Scagliotti.

After a day like today, we’re all wondering if the upsets have ceased. Maybe we will take that small wonder to the gambling tables tonight. Or it may be better off left to tomorrow’s final rounds of the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour. We’ll keep you posted on what we decide…in the meantime, enjoy today’s photo gallery.
