From the classic checkerboard slip-ons to sponsorship of the worlds biggest action sports events, the company is always on the cutting edge of whats hot and continually pushes the envelope with everything they do. And in yet another stylish move during the Vans® Invitational, the company donated $10,000 for skatepark development to the Portland Parks and Recreation Department for the second year in a row.

Earmarked for Portlands Glenhaven Skatepark, set to open in late winter 2006/spring 2007, the donation was intended as a way to leave something behind to the skate community of Portland for hosting the Vans® Invitational. Part of the plan of Portland Parks and Recreation Departments Skatepark Leadership Advisory Team (SPLAT), Glenhaven Skatepark will be one of a citywide system of 19 sites throughout the city and looks to provide beginner and intermediate skateboarders with a quality place to skate.

With construction beginning this summer and Oregons Dreamland Skateparks, LLC selected to design and build the new creation, rest assured that all of the elements are in place and everything is totally dialed. And as if things couldnt get any better, Vans® is also planning a sick demo for the opening of the park with many of their top pros planning to appear and rip it to shreds.
