The Dew Tour to date has been a whirlwind of ups and downs, come-from-behind wins and non-stop action that has proved to be one of the most exciting competitions in professional skateboarding all year. Along with the intensity of each competition, the pros are also battling each other for overall tour rankings that determine the Dew Cup champion following the PlayStation® Pro. Moving into the Toyota Challenge, lets take a look at where the pros stand and what it will take in order to come out on top.
In the world of Skate Vert, 2005 Dew Cup champ Bucky Lasek continues to dominate in the overall rankings with a score of 213 and a 24 point lead over Sandro Dias, who is currently in second with 189 points. However, with no wins to date during the 2006 season, Lasek definitely has his work cut out for him in San Jose and Orlando if he plans to go for a second Dew Cup. Add the fact that Vert heavyweights Bob Burnquist, Andy Macdonald and Shaun White are in third, fourth and fifth places, respectively, and the difficulty increases for Lasek. Additionally, standouts Jean Postec, Max Dufour and Neal Hendrix are also hot on the trail for victory and look to complicate things as well.
Moving over to Skate Park, 2005 champ Ryan Sheckler, is still in first with 255 points, but faces stiff competition from Jereme Rogers in close second with 238 points and Nyjah Huston in third. Both are clearly looking for revenge following the intense Finals matchup in Portland. Brazils Rodolfo Ramos and Aussie Chad Bartie follow the top three in fourth and fifth, respectively, and are also among those looking to stop Sheckler, who is fast on his way to his second Dew Cup. Aside from the tour regulars, skate legend Steve Caballero and Tony Trujillo are also competing in San Jose as wildcards, and given the rap sheets of these two veterans, the level of competition will be interesting to say the least.
So who will take it all for the 2006 Dew Tour season? Given what weve seen so far, the battle is far from over and more upsets are yet ahead. Can Nyjah finally earn his first win of the season? Will wildcards Tony T. or Cab come out of nowhere and steal the show? Does Sheckler have what it takes to claim his third win of the season? Only time will tell, so keep your eyes locked to the HP Pavilion and be one of the first to see the action all go down!
