Whyatt Slays the Course at Jaycee with Flip Whip

Jaycee Extreme Park Rider

Pro Town, USA was transformed to AM ville, USA today as the area’s top ams gathered in Greenville, NC to shred the world famous Jaycee Park. There were a handful of pro’s hanging out to get a glimpse of what their competition is going to look like in the next few years. The day had a great atmosphere as many Greenville locals came out to enjoy the competition.

Brother Ryan and Justin Dowell made the trip to Greenville from Virginia Beach to put on quite a show in the Junior Jam division. Ryan just edged out his younger brother, Justin, to take the Junior Jam win and get a bit of revenge from the Free Flow contest at Factory Skatepark earlier in the summer. Joseph Lee took third with Alex Brown and Andrew Brown taking 4th and 5th respectively.

The heavy hitters came out swinging today for one of the last spots in the finals. It was a good day for the boys from down under as the local Aussie contigent took first and second place. Matt Whyatt proved to himself today that showing up in Greenville, NC six months ago with nothing but his backpack and bike has paid off. “I am so pumped. It is going to be so fun riding with everyone in SLC. All of the riders were so good today, I don’t know how the judges decided between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd,” said Matt.

Matt slayed the course throwing down a flip whip, and alley oop downside whip, and a huge double whip on the quarter, just to name a few. Fellow Aussie turned Greenville local Nick Kajewski followed up is fellow county man in second place. Third went to Greenville local JC Knecht who was boosting huge all day sending it into the trees on the hip to mini ramp transfer. Fourth and fifth went to Devon Smillie and Russel Summerville who made the trip up to NC from Suwanee, GA, Im sure we will be seeing these young bucks again next year at a few stops.

Big thanks to the Greenville Parks and Rec department for working with us on setting this contest up. Looking forward to doing it again next year!
