Dew Tour Host: Kenan Harkin

Kenan Harkin returns to the Dew Tour as host, and will serve as the BMX and Mountain Bike analyst for his first Olympic broadcast assignment for NBC later this summer.

Harkin has worked with NBC since 1999 hosting a myriad of action sports events, including the Gravity Games and the Dew Action Sports Tour. Earlier that year, Harkin was a featured rider on the Destination Extreme broadcast by ESPN. Upon seeing his clip, producers offered him a job to be the sideline reporter for the rest of tour.

Born in 1974 on Long Island, N.Y., Harkin was one of seven children. As he grew up he quickly fell in love with BMX bikes. In 1983, his mother brought him to Shoreham Raceway on the east end of Long Island, where he began BMX racing competitively at the young age of nine years old.

Then in 1988, at the age of 14, he began to experiment more with his riding style. Simply riding fast was not enough for Harkin, so he starting pushing the limits of his riding. Throughout the early 90’s, before bicycle freestyle events in competitions such as the X-Games or Dew Tour were prevalent, Harkin was zigzagging across the U.S. displaying his incredible skills for small, local audiences, while continually developing new tricks and his own special style of riding. Then in 1994 he met Matt Hoffman and Jay Miron, where he trained at the legendary Woodward Camp.

Two years later, Harkin became the first BMX free-stylist to successfully and consistently pull the 360-degree back flip in competition. He competed on several tours and gained serious sponsorship as action sports and freestyle BMX began to catch on across the nation and around the world.

She grew up as a dancer spending most of her teenage years performing on stage and traveling to competitions.
